Car sales in Egypt surged by 83.02% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2025, reaching 90,100 vehicles compared to 49,230 in the same period last year, according to data from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC). The sharp increase was fueled by strong growth in passenger car sales, which rose by 79%, alongside a 54.4% rise in bus sales and an exceptional 121.8% increase in truck sales.

Altogether, passenger car sales stood at 69,790 units, bus sales at 5,560 units, and truck sales at 14,750 units. In July 2025 alone, sales grew by 36.9%, with 15,600 vehicles sold compared to 11,400 in July 2024. Chevrolet remained the market leader with 17.9% of total sales, followed by Nissan with 14.6% and Chery with 11%. These figures include combined sales of passenger cars, buses, and trucks.

Focusing on passenger cars, Chinese brands dominated the market, followed by Japanese and then Korean manufacturers. Sales of Chinese cars climbed 93.8% year-on-year to 25,500 units, up from 13,160 in the same period last year. Japanese car sales rose 27.2% to 17,960 units, compared to 14,100 a year earlier.

European brands also showed remarkable performance, with sales jumping 203.3% to 10,150 units, compared to 3,300 last year. Korean cars followed with sales of 12,130 units, up 52.5% from 7,950 a year earlier. American passenger cars recorded the fastest growth of all categories, skyrocketing by 817.6% to 3,700 units in the first seven months of 2025, compared to just 404 units in the same period of 2024.
