China’s Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang, affirmed that relations between Egypt and China are currently experiencing their strongest phase in history, thanks to the strategic leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. He stressed that the partnership has become a model of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual benefit between China and the Arab and African developing nations.
The ambassador made his remarks during a reception celebrating China’s National Day, attended by senior officials, ambassadors, and accredited diplomats in Egypt. Liao highlighted that the two presidents met twice last year, reaching key agreements to deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across all sectors. These meetings, he said, have set the framework for advancing Egypt-China relations amid evolving global circumstances.
He also pointed to recent high-level reciprocal visits between the prime ministers of both countries, reflecting the strategic depth and elevated status of the bilateral partnership. According to Liao, China’s Belt and Road Initiative aligns closely with Egypt’s Vision 2030, and China has maintained its position as Egypt’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years. Moreover, China remains one of the most active foreign investors in Egypt’s manufacturing sector.
The ambassador noted that this year witnessed cooperation between Egyptian and Chinese researchers in underwater archaeological exploration, further broadening the scope of joint projects. He underlined that the fruitful outcomes of collaboration in various fields are pushing both countries toward building a shared Egypt-China future community and advancing steadily into a new era.
Liao also emphasized that China-Arab relations are now at their best historical stage, marked by mutual trust and political support, shared economic benefits, and continuous cultural exchange. He said both sides are making new progress in building a China-Arab community with a shared future. Extending congratulations on behalf of the Chinese people, the ambassador celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Arab League, praising the organization’s tireless efforts to strengthen unity, promote peace, and maintain stability in the Middle East, as well as its unique role in international affairs.
The ambassador revealed that 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of China-Arab ties. He announced that Beijing will host the second China-Arab Summit, affirming China’s readiness to work with Egypt to implement the important understandings reached between Presidents El-Sisi and Xi Jinping. He concluded by stressing the commitment of both nations – as major members of the Global South – to fulfill their historic responsibilities, advance modernization, and strengthen partnerships with Arab and African states.
