Cairo: EgyPulse – News Desk

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday stressed the importance of reinforcing partnership with the private sector and attracting foreign direct investments (FDIs) to achieve self-sufficiency in strategic commodities, ensuring the sustainable provision of citizens’ needs.

The President’s remarks came during a meeting with Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayyed Ahmed and Executive Director of the “Future of Egypt” for Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa al-Ghannam.

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy said President Sisi directed full support for projects of strategic significance, particularly grain storage silos, while continuing to expand agricultural land, increase production, and develop the agricultural industrialization system.

He stressed the need to balance the interests of producers and consumers within the framework of comprehensive development. The meeting reviewed progress in the authority’s projects, which cover agriculture, industry, livestock, urban development, and job creation, in partnership with the private sector.

Ghannam briefed the President on agricultural expansion efforts in the “New Delta” area, projects underway in Upper Egypt and the Future of Egypt Industrial City, as well as cooperation with the ministries of agriculture and supply to advance the commodities exchange and strengthen the availability of strategic goods through expanded storage capacity for key crops.

The spokesman noted that the discussions also covered the authority’s role in urban development, including the establishment of an eco-city in cooperation with leading real estate developers to promote environmental and climate investment.

Concluding the meeting, President Sisi highlighted the central role of the authority’s projects in implementing the state’s sustainable development strategy in economic, social, and environmental dimensions. He stressed the importance of adhering to the agreed timelines for the completion of these projects.
