Johannesburg: EgyPulse – News Desk

Ambassador Reddy, a seasoned Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1991 batch, brings with him a distinguished career spanning over three decades. Prior to his appointment in Egypt, he served as India’s Ambassador to Brazil, Iraq, and ASEAN, and held key diplomatic postings in Cairo, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Islamabad. His extensive experience also includes serving as India’s Sous Sherpa to global platforms such as the G20, G7, BRICS, and IBSA.

Upon presenting his credentials, Ambassador Reddy expressed deep gratitude for President El-Sisi’s warm reception and his reaffirmation of the strategic importance of India–Egypt relations. He noted that the two nations share a historical, deep-rooted, and multifaceted partnership, enriched by centuries of civilizational exchange and contemporary cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and technological domains.

President El-Sisi received credentials from a total of 23 newly appointed ambassadors on the same day, signaling Egypt’s active engagement with global partners and its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. Ambassador Reddy’s arrival in Cairo on May 23, 2025, was met with optimism from both Indian and Egyptian diplomatic circles. His appointment is expected to catalyze new initiatives in trade, investment, cultural exchange, and regional cooperation, especially in light of shared priorities such as climate resilience, water sustainability, and multilateral diplomacy.

India and Egypt have long maintained a robust diplomatic relationship, with both countries playing pivotal roles in the Non-Aligned Movement and collaborating on global issues ranging from counterterrorism to sustainable development. Ambassador Reddy’s leadership is anticipated to deepen this engagement, fostering mutual growth and strategic alignment in an increasingly interconnected world.
