Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel Ati, affirmed Egypt’s look forward to continuing enhanced cooperation with the Netherlands across various sectors, noting that Dutch investments in Egypt currently exceed $5 billion. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Dutch counterpart, Abdel Ati stated that their discussions reflected the mutual commitment to consolidating bilateral cooperation, especially in water resources management.
He highlighted an agreement to launch a Dutch technical training center in Egypt to boost capacities in development and professional qualification. Minister Abdel Ati confirmed that the two sides also reviewed cooperation mechanisms for combating illegal migration and exchanged views on the situations in Gaza and the West Bank.
He emphasized that ongoing talks in Sharm El Sheikh between Israeli and Palestinian delegations are aimed at reaching an agreement for the release of hostages and implementing the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan. This phase includes the release of Palestinian prisoners, guaranteeing full and unhindered humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip, and preparing for the redeployment and eventual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip.
Abdel Ati expressed Egypt’s confidence in President Trump’s ability to execute his plan, calling it a “good foundation to build upon.” He underscored that the plan’s strength lies in three key elements: ending the war, and the complete rejection of both annexation and displacement.
The Minister concluded by stressing that the acceptance of Trump’s plan by the Hamas movement is a positive step that requires creating the necessary conditions to ensure its success and achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
