Egypt has expressed its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Philippines following a devastating earthquake that struck the country’s central region, leaving dozens dead and injured. “Egypt affirms its full solidarity with the government and people of the Philippines during this difficult time,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday. Egypt offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a swift recovery for all those injured.
A 6.9-magnitude quake ravaged Bogo city in central Philippines’ Cebu province Tuesday night, killing least 72 fatalities and leaving more than 360 injuries, according to the Associated Press. The tremor caused widespread destruction in Bogo, a fast-growing coastal city of about 90,000 residents, toppling 87 buildings, damaging nearly 600 homes, and causing parts of the local seaport to collapse. Several bridges and major roads were also severely affected.
