Egypt sends 44th “Zad Al-Ezzah” Humanitarian Aid Convoy to Gaza

Cairo: EgyPulse – News Desk

Egypt launched its 44th humanitarian aid convoy, codenamed “Zad El Ezza” (Provision of Glory), Tuesday. The trucks departed from the Rafah border crossing on the Egyptian side, heading toward the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in the southeastern Gaza Strip. A source at the Rafah crossing confirmed that the convoy carries thousands of tons of relief supplies, including essential food chains, shelter materials, medical supplies, curative medicines, and three trucks loaded with fuel.

The “Zad El Ezza… From Egypt to Gaza” initiative, initially launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) on July 27, has consistently delivered critical aid, including thousands of tons of flour, baby milk, medical necessities, and fuel, underscoring Egypt’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian assistance.

The article highlights that Israeli forces have maintained the closure of crossings linking to the Gaza Strip since March 2, following the conclusion of the first ceasefire phase without a renewed agreement. Following a major breach of the truce on March 18 with heavy aerial bombardment and renewed ground incursions, Israeli authorities have allegedly prevented the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and shelter supplies crucial for displaced residents. Furthermore, Israeli authorities have reportedly refused to allow the entry of heavy equipment necessary for rubble removal and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The article also notes that while limited aid entered in May under a mechanism implemented with a U.S. security firm, this arrangement failed to meet the minimum needs of Gaza’s population. This mechanism was rejected by UN agencies, including UNRWA, and other relief organizations for violating established international standards, further complicating the delivery of life-saving aid during the protracted humanitarian crisis.
