Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart Ambassador Mohieddin Salem affirmed on Monday their complete rejection of unilateral measures on the Nile River. They also confirmed during their meeting on the sidelines of the Aswan Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development, the unity of the two countries’ positions as downstream states of the Nile River, stressing the need for full compliance with international law in the Eastern Nile Basin.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s continued efforts to achieve stability in Sudan, expressing Egypt’s full solidarity with Sudan and supporting its stability, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He also noted Egypt’s active engagement in efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Sudan and putting an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the holding of the second Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum meetings this year, the efforts to convene the Joint Trade Committee in Cairo, and the reception of a delegation from the Sudanese Ministry of Investment in Cairo to share Egypt’s investment experience.

Minister Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to rebuild infrastructure in Khartoum through the implementation of the project to repair and rehabilitate both the Halfaya Bridge and the Shambat Bridge in the Sudanese capital. He affirmed Egypt’s readiness and aspiration to contribute to the rehabilitation of the electricity, water, health, and education sectors in Sudan.

Both Egyptian and Sudanese Ministers reaffirmed the unity of the two countries’ positions as downstream states of the Nile River. They also emphasized the need for full compliance with international law in the Eastern Nile Basin and the complete rejection of unilateral measures on the Nile.
