Egypt Will Open the Grand Egyptian Museum on 1 November 2025, Marking a New Era in Global Heritage Diplomacy.

At precisely 10:00 A.M. Cairo time on Saturday, 1 November 2025, Egypt will inaugurate the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) – a monumental cultural achievement two decades in the making. Situated beside the Giza Pyramids, the museum will become the world’s largest archaeological institution, showcasing over 50,000 artifacts, including the 83-ton statue of Ramesses II and the complete tomb collection of Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time.

The opening ceremony will be held on the museum’s alabaster forecourt, where a pyramid-shaped entrance and hieroglyphic façade will serve as the symbolic gateway to Egypt’s ancient legacy. A panoramic procession will link the museum to the Giza Plateau via a newly constructed tourist walkway, offering guests a seamless experience between the past and present.

Global dignitaries expected to attend include:

• President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, who will deliver the keynote address.

• President Donald Trump of the United States.

• President Emmanuel Macron of France.

• President Sergio Mattarella of Italy.

• President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.

• King Abdullah II of Jordan.

• King Felipe VI of Spain.

• Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.

• UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

•Ambassadors and Ministers of Culture from over 40 countries.

• Directors of the British Museum, Louvre, and Metropolitan Museum of Art.

To ensure the safety of attendees and the integrity of the museum’s priceless collections, Egypt will deploy over 3,000 security personnel, including elite units from the Presidential Guard and National Security Agency.

The venue will be secured with:

• Drone surveillance and facial recognition systems.

• Biometric screening and restricted airspace over the Giza Plateau.

• Road closures and perimeter lockdowns from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

•Cybersecurity protocols to protect digital exhibits and live-stream infrastructure.

• Emergency response teams and artifact protection brigades stationed throughout the site.

The ceremony will feature traditional music, projection mapping, and a symbolic unveiling of Egypt’s most treasured relics, broadcast globally through cultural institutions and diplomatic channels. Egypt anticipates 15,000 – 20,000 daily visitors following the opening, with a strategic goal to double annual tourist arrivals to 30 million by 2032.

This landmark event will not only celebrate Egypt’s ancient heritage but also signal its emergence as a global cultural and tourism powerhouse. The Grand Egyptian Museum will stand as a beacon of innovation, diplomacy, and historical reverence, welcoming the world to witness the rebirth of civilization.
