Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty is headling to Türkiye on Wednesday for a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and consulting on various regional and global issues of concern. During the visit, Abdelatty is scheduled to meet with several senior Turkish government officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Hakan Fidan, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.
Both foreign ministers will co-chair a meeting for the Türkiye-Egypt Joint Planning Group to follow up on the implementation of agreements reached between the two nations’ leaderships. The meeting also aims to develop mechanisms for bilateral cooperation across political, economic, investment, and cultural fields, reflecting the growing momentum in Egyptian-Turkish relations at the current stage.
Egypt and Türkiye have bolstered their political ties over the past years with the year 2025 marking the centennial of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. The two countries and held several rounds of talks recently to further bolster their investments and economic relations, aspiring to double their trade from $8.8 billion in 2024 to $15 billion.
High-level coordination has been ongoing between both countries especially since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, with Egypt and Türkiye currently being key mediators in the talks that led to a lasting ceasefire last month.
