President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support to Kuwaiti investments in all fields as he received Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Thursday. President El-Sisi stressed the Egyptian state’s commitment to removing any obstacles and providing all necessary facilities to ensure the success of Kuwaiti investors in Egypt, the Egyptian Presidency reported.
During the meeting, attended by ministers and officials from both countries, the two sides agreed to build on the collaboration agreed upon during El-Sisi’s April state visit to Kuwait, particularly in trade and investment, while focusing on priority sectors. They also explored means to broaden Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations to meet their peoples’ aspirations.
Trade, Investments
Kuwait’s investments in Egypt have surpassed an impressive $20 billion, with more than 1,000 Kuwaiti companies operating across various sectors, Kuwaiti investors said in a meeting with El-Sisi last April, as reported by the Presidency.
The investors expressed their eagerness to deepen Kuwaiti investments in Egypt, noting that 25% of the Kuwaiti Fund for Development’s projects are located in Egypt. Meanwhile, trade exchange between Egypt and Kuwait reached $1.2 billion in 2024, including $273 million in Egyptian exports and $947 million in Egyptian imports, according to the Cabinet.
Progress in Bilateral Relations
The Kuwaiti prime minister conveyed the greetings of Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to President El-Sisi, commending the tangible progress witnessed in Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations across all fields. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s keenness to further strengthen the historical ties of cooperation between the two countries.
Sheikh Ahmad also extended his congratulations to El-Sisi on the upcoming inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which embodies Egypt’s civilizational status and its ancient heritage. Moreover, he expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for the vital role played by the Egyptian community in Kuwait, which continues to make valuable contributions across various sectors, particularly in health and education.
Upholding Gaza Ceasefire
The meeting also addressed regional developments. The prime minister expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in consolidating regional security and stability, praising Egypt’s tireless efforts in mediating the ceasefire agreement currently in place in the Gaza Strip.
Both sides underscored the importance of fully implementing the agreement and launching the reconstruction process in the enclave.
