Egyptian Foreign Minister and Emigration Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted their mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves the interests of both nations and contributes to regional stability. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly, focused on ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US, a relationship spanning over decades of cooperation and shared interests.
During the talks, Abdelatty conveyed President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s appreciation for the efforts led by US President Donald Trump to achieve an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, following the Arab-Islamic Summit with the US, which took place earlier this week on Tuesday. He emphasized the urgent need for joint action to end the bloodshed and prevent the forced displacement of the Palestinian population. The two ministers exchanged views on the situation in Sudan, in light of the latest meeting of the International Quartet on Sudan held on Wednesday.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm position in support of efforts to resolve the crisis in a way that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the role of its national institutions, while safeguarding the interests of the Sudanese people. Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation within the framework of the Egypt-US strategic partnership and to continue high-level dialogue in the coming period.
