Egypt’s General Intelligence Chief, Major General Hassan Rashad, received today Fahd Suleiman, Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve Palestinian national consensus on the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to informed sources, the meeting is part of a series of intensive consultations Cairo is holding with various Palestinian factions, aimed at unifying the Palestinian position and coordinating steps related to the post-war phase in Gaza.

In parallel, sources told Cairo News that a delegation from Hamas, headed by Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, is currently meeting with a delegation from Fatah, led by Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh and joined by Palestinian Intelligence Chief Majed Faraj, to discuss the overall Palestinian national landscape and arrangements for the period following the cessation of hostilities in Gaza.

These meetings come as Egypt intensifies its contacts with the United States, as well as regional and international stakeholders, in order to consolidate the ceasefire, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, and create conditions conducive to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
