Palestinian Factions United on Upholding Gaza Deal, Advancing Reconstruction

Cairo: EgyPulse – News Desk

Senior officials from several Palestinian factions, including Hamas, affirmed their unified commitment to implement the provisions of the Gaza peace agreement in remarks to Al Qahera News after their meetings in Cairo on Thursday.

Senior Hamas official Husam Badran affirmed the movement’s serious commitment to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, highlighting a broad consensus among Palestinian factions on a shared vision to implement the deal.

He stressed the importance of reaching a Palestinian national consensus to form a technocratic committee to manage Palestinian affairs. “No Palestinian faction alone can meet the needs of Palestinians alone,” Badran stressed.

Leaders highlighted the urgent need for continued coordination among Palestinian factions to prevent a resurgence of hostilities and protect civilians. Jamil Mezher, Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, said the discussions aim to prevent renewed aggression on Gaza and ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire.

Mezher highlighted that Palestinians in Gaza have endured two years of mass killings, destruction, displacement, and starvation, emphasizing the necessity to end this suffering through unified national Palestinian action.

He underscored a Palestinian consensus on upholding the Gaza agreement and implementing its remaining provisions to protect Palestinians, stop the aggression, and advance reconstruction. Samir Al-Mashharawi, a prominent leader of the Democratic Reform Current, noted that the peace agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh helped prevent further mass killings in Gaza.

He outlined the three main pillars guiding the Cairo talks: ensuring the ceasefire holds, accelerating the reconstruction of Gaza, and supporting mediators in implementing the broader peace plan.

Al-Mashharawi described the factional dialogues as “responsible and constructive” and said that international attention at Sharm El-Sheikh provides an important guarantee for maintaining peace.

Secretary General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine Fahd Suleiman described the Cairo meetings as “a positive development on all fronts.” He emphasized that reconstruction is a national responsibility, not the task of any single faction, and that creating a stable and peaceful environment in Gaza is essential for rebuilding efforts.

Suleiman praised Egypt’s central role in facilitating both the ceasefire and the reconstruction process, and stressed that the Gaza agreement serves the national interest and sets the stage for addressing future challenges.

All the officials underlined a shared commitment to maintaining the ceasefire, protecting civilians, and ensuring that reconstruction efforts proceed swiftly, emphasizing that Palestinian unity and cooperation remain key to achieving these goals.

The ceasefire in Gaza took effect on October 10 after two years of war as part of the first phase of a broader peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. In mid-October, leaders of Egypt, the US, Turkey and Qatar signed a historic document in Sharm El-Sheikh to end the war.
