Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly delivered on Monday Egypt’s speech, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, at the First Summit of Leaders of the ‘Global Alliance to Combat Poverty and Hunger’ held in Doha. Madbouly said that hunger and poverty remain among the most pressing challenges of our time, and that the famine in Gaza exemplifies how conflicts devastate lives.
In his speech, he announced that Egypt plans to host an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza. He also noted that Egypt is implementing a number of projects to increase the storage capacity for wheat and grains, along with working on specialized projects for the benefit of small farmers.
The Prime Minister added that at the national level, Egypt has launched the most ambitious social safety net projects including the ‘Takaful w karama’ program, which aims to provide assistance to more than 7 million people monthly, as well as the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” which is the largest ambitious project to improve the lives of village residents. He explained that more than 60 million people benefit from these two initiatives.
The PM also noted that Egypt has launched the Luxor Coordination Center to promote resilience, innovation and knowledge dissemination in Upper Egypt, in partnership with the World Food Programme, as well as working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to host a global grain storage center in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
