President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi extended an invitation to US President Donald Trump for visiting Egypt to attend the signing ceremony of a potential agreement to end the war in Gaza, should negotiations succeed. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of a new class at the Police Academy on Wednesday, Sisi expressed appreciation for Trump’s efforts to resolve the crisis in Gaza, urging him to continue his support to bring the war to an end.
As the Gaza war crosses its second year, President Sisi emphasized that the war has been very harsh for the region, particularly for out brothers in Gaza, who endure severe destruction and profound humanitarian suffering. He affirmed that Egypt’s efforts have continued throughout the two years of the war to secure a ceasefire, deliver humanitarian aid, and contain the worsening crisis.
Egypt has always supported peace and stability in the region, the president stressed, and will continue its political and humanitarian initiatives out of its historic responsibility toward the Palestinian cause.
