Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore witnessed today, at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, the signing of seven memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering diverse areas of bilateral cooperation. The agreements reflect the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening strategic ties and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors:
•The first MoU focused on cooperation in the field of maritime transport. It was signed by Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and by the Executive Director of Cooperation Projects, Singapore.
•The second MoU addressed the economic partnership between Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation and the Cooperation Foundation of the Republic of Singapore. It was signed by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, and by the Executive Director of Cooperation Projects, Singapore.
•The third MoU concerned cooperation in the field of small, medium, and micro enterprises, as well as startups. It was signed by Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and by the Executive Director of Cooperation Projects, Singapore.
•The fourth MoU focused on potential cooperation in the field of social protection. It was signed on behalf of Egypt by Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and on behalf of Singapore by the Minister of Family and Social Development.
•The fifth MoU, covering cooperation in the field of health, was signed on behalf of Egypt by Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, and on behalf of Singapore by the Minister of Health.
•The sixth MoU concerned the cultivation of Singaporean Temasek rice in Egypt. It was signed on behalf of Egypt by Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and on behalf of Singapore by the Executive Director of the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory.
•The seventh MoU focused on cooperation in training and government capacity development. It was signed on behalf of Egypt by Dr. Salfa Goueili, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, and on behalf of Singapore by the Executive Director of the College of International Services.
