Cairo: EgyPulse – News Desk

Photographers Maged Helal and Kerolos Salah passed away Wednesday after a tragic accident, where they fall off a crane while filming. The accident sparked calls for an official investigation after reports suggested that proper safety measures were not in place at the filming site. Friends of the two photographers were in a shock after hearing the news, and took to the social media platforms and mourned their beloved photographers.

Journalist Karim Abdel Aziz, a photographer for Youm7, revealed details of the accident that claimed the lives of photographers Maged Helal and Kerolos Salah. He explained that they were working on a project in Port Said Governorate for a private company. They were positioned atop a very high crane to get a different angle when they fell and tragically died. There are conflicting reports about the exact height from which they fell, but the investigation is ongoing.

Abdel Aziz stated that the two men were among the most renowned and dedicated photographers in Egypt. He lamented that their dedication had cost them their lives, adding, “I consider them very close friends, colleagues, and brothers.” Photojournalist Karim Abdel Aziz pointed out that he and all his fellow photographers were present in front of June Hospital, and unfortunately, each of the two was in a different hospital than the other.
