Cairo: EgyPulse – News Desk

Journalist Diaa Rashwan, chairman of the State Information Service, stated that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, is receiving widespread international media attention. The State Information Service has received a large number of requests from newspapers, television and radio stations, news websites, and news agencies from all over the world, in a large number of languages, seeking permits to participate in media coverage of the summit.

Rashwan indicated that, to date, (232) journalists and correspondents from foreign media outlets have registered to participate in media coverage of the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, including (173) journalists and correspondents from foreign media outlets accredited and residing in Egypt, and (59) who have come from abroad specifically to report on the summit and its outcomes to the world.

Rashwan added that this number of correspondents represents (88) of the largest international media outlets, including (18) of the world’s most important news agencies, (36) widely circulated television networks, and (18) of the most important newspapers from all continents. Regarding the countries and regions to which these correspondents belong, Diaa Rashwan stated that they include (14) American media organizations, (32) from European countries, (22) from Asian countries, and (17) from the Arab world.

The Chairman of the State Information Service concluded his statement by noting that the State Information Service’s Foreign Correspondents Press Center – in coordination with the relevant state authorities – has provided all necessary facilities for this large number of foreign media representatives to carry out their duties. It has also organized their obtaining of the necessary permits to convey a comprehensive picture of this summit and of Egypt’s historic role, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in achieving peace in the region. It has also undertaken all organizational and logistical aspects of holding this major global summit within a short period of time and at the highest level.
